Globalstar is hiring an entry level Network Performance Engineer to join our team!

 

This individual will have a Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline, telecommunications, electronics or electrical engineering or computer science from an accredited college or university. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 to 4 years of progressive experience in performance analysis of CDMA and/or LTE for end-to-end wireless network architectures. Satellite network experience is a plus. The Engineer will provide key support to the ground engineering and quality of service teams by collecting data from testing and performing validation and verification. This position will also require Quality of Service testing to identify network issues. This person will also act as a liaison between the Engineering teams and Sales support to isolate customer performance issues. This individual will have good organizational, analytical, and numerical skills.  This individual will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Major Job duties are, however not limited to the following:       

 

  • Operational software and product test support.
  • Perform field testing to validate system performance.
  • Perform engineering performance analysis from call record collection systems.
  • Execute validation test cases for new operational features.
  • Proactively looks for areas to improve overall system performance. Finds and resolves system issues on the network.
  • Conducts proactive system performance tracking and monitoring to ensure that platforms continue to perform as designed.
  • Train field QoS test teams to perform testing at various sites.

 

Position requirements:

  • Solid knowledge of PL/SQL, Perl, Python, VBA, Excel advanced macro reporting.

Job Description:

Globalstar is hiring a Wide Area Network (WAN) Routing Engineer to join our team!

 

This individual will have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related), with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Network Engineering. They will have strong analytic and problem-solving abilities, to research complex matters and reach sound conclusions. Ability to multi-task is essential. Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks is a must.  This individual will have good organizational, analytical, and numerical skills.  This individual will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Major Job duties are, however not limited to the following:

  • Maintenance and support of data center operations, LAN/WAN architecture, network monitoring, network hardware and software
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance, networking expertise, and project management
  • Monitor, assess, and report on network bandwidth and resource utilization
  • Coordinate and execute upon approved adjustments and changes that increase performance and availability
  • Provide ongoing review of capacity requirements in order to align with budget planning
  • Provide network design, security analysis/design and implementation, definition and coordination of standards, project management, and technology research
  • Provide up-to-date system and network documentation and inventories
  • Coordinate related vendor support contracts for hardware, software, connectivity, etc.
  • When necessary, work in concert with software and hardware vendors for problem resolution
  • Provide advance notification of all planned system and network outages within a strong change control environment and set realistic expectations on availability
  • Coordinate and communicate closely with management and NOC during all unplanned outages
  • Work with other members of the Network Team as necessary to resolve issues or assist with projects as assigned

Position requirements:

 

  • Requires BS or equivalent degree
  • 5 years of network administration or design experience, with an emphasis on wide area networking
  • Strong knowledge of network security and network security auditing tools
  • Experience and high level expertise in designing complex, highly available, infrastructure solutions in a large-scale, multisite environment
  • IP internetworking and LAN switching experience
  • WAN circuits and protocols (VPLS, MPLS, Optimization) experience
  • Dynamic IP Routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, PIM Multicast) experience
  • New generation firewalls, stateful firewalls, SSL, and VPN
  • Expert level internetworking troubleshooting in a large-scale network environment
  • In-depth knowledge of network management, network availability and capacity planning
  • Cisco Certifications required:  Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), and Cisco Certified Internet Expert (CCIE) or working towards CCIE
  • Expertise in interfacing with carriers to manage circuit delivery, troubleshooting and migration
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Solaris/UNIX operating systems

·        Manage and procure the requisite Customer Furnished Equipment (CFE) that Globalstar is required to provide to Ericsson as defined in the Core Network contract.

·        Develop the architecture and requisite projections of bandwidth required in the Globalstar Data Network to support the testing and subsequent implementation of the network.

·        Responsible for the management of the Core Network and Radio Access Network integration and testing activities.

·        Development of the test plans and procedures for the CN and RAN integration and implementation to the Globalstar ground stations.

·        Development on overall end to end systemic testing.

Position requirements:

·        Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Master of Science or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering preferred

·        Minimum of ten years in telecommunications network architecture

·        Emphasis on modern communications systems

·        Knowledge of Low Earth Orbit Satellite systems

·        Prior experience in 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and IP Multi-Media Systems (IMS) architecture desired

·        Experience in telecommunications capacity analysis

·        Experience in satellite systems and consumer products is desired

·        Must have excellent communications skills

·        Provide monitor and control functions for Globalstar worldwide gateways. This requires the ability to master and use multiple monitoring tools to recognize potential problems in the gateway CDMA hardware, building facilities, and ancillary equipment.

·        Provide support for all Globalstar worldwide gateways. This involves the use of gateway monitoring tools to help in the isolation and resolution of problems. Limited corrective action of gateway problems via gateway interfaces will be required at times.

·        Work with the gateway Tier 2 engineering group to resolve all gateway issues.

·        Work with other groups in support of the Globalstar mission. This includes, however not limited to gateways, the Globalstar Space Operations Control Center, gateway tier 2 engineering, System Engineering, Customer Care, Information Technology, Network Planning, and other Globalstar departments.

·        Document all activities using the Remedy trouble ticketing system.

Position requirements:

·        Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Engineering, or former tier one NOC experience

·        Familiarity in operations control center environment

·        Familiarity in wireless communications, field engineering, technical support, customer care, network monitoring

·        Highly skilled in trouble isolation techniques

·        Familiarity in the use of basic network management platforms

·        Exposure to LAN/WAN, PSTN, TCP/IP, PC operating systems

·        Must have excellent communication skills with a strong focus on customer service
