Burnt SPOT Unit Survives Baja 1000 Race Truck Fire PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 20 January 2009 16:28

We're just glad that Jason McNeil, Trophy Truck #50 driver in the Baja 1000 Race is ok! That's an amazing feat, considering looking at how his SPOT unit fared out after a truck fire got a hold of it. McNeil even finished 11th in the Trophy Truck Class after his truck burned! We received the unit at the office, fired it up and it seems to be working ok!

Mine bounced off my truck onto the blacktop at 35mph. Works fine...with only a
few dings on the edges.

My Advice= Put your name and phone number on the unit.
I was searching for it when I got the call that it was found.

Remarkable. The front panel of the Spot Unit, about 1/3 of
the way from the top to the bottom, clearly swelled from the heat. I won't
worry quite as much as I might have, if I happen to leave my SPOT on a black
rock in the desert summer sun. Or more likely, on the dashboard in my closed
car under the summer sun.
