SPOT and outdoor survival expert Les Stroud, host and producer of Survivorman have partnered to educate outdoors enthusiasts and others on the benefits of the SPOT Satellite Messenger.

Canadian born outdoor adventurer, filmmaker and musician, Stroud is best known for his highly acclaimed international television survival show, Survivorman. Stroud has more than 20 years experience as a naturalist and outdoor adventurer and instructor in survival, white water paddling, sea kayaking, hiking, dog sledding and winter travel.

"I have been in almost every situation imaginable across the globe and no matter your experience, things can happen and you need to be prepared," says Les. "Whether you are 50 miles deep in harsh backcountry or stranded roadside in a remote location when your car fails, SPOT offers emergency assistance and a way to check in with others when and where its needed."
SPOT has launched an awareness campaign featuring Stroud beginning in mid December. Stroud is educating others about SPOT through his endorsement in television and radio and personal appearances for 2008 including the annual Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (Shot) Show in Las Vegas on February 2-5, 2008. Stroud will be featured in an upcoming SPOT television commercial beginning December 10, 2007 and throughout 2008 on networks such as ESPN, CNN and Outdoor Life Network. |
 Jose Wejebe is host of Spanish Fly TV on ESPN. Filled with breathtaking underwater footage, spectacular cinematography, complimentary editing, the light-tackle saltwater guru shows viewers each week a unique interactive style of fishing that no one had done before. He uses techniques that he learned throughout his travels and continues to do so today. While not filming Spanish Fly, Jose finds time to work for several charities including Make a Wish Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis and Big Brothers and Big Sisters. He feels strongly the importance of taking the time to fish with kids and teach the next generation of anglers. In the present day, Jose enjoys his new passion of flying private aircraft. He also continues to explore unchartered fishing grounds and expand his knowledge for local fishing techniques. Brian Brawdy, an urban/wilderness survival expert, set out in 2008 to promote his Wonder Explore Believe campaign RVing throughout 49 US states. The goal of the tour is to discover the delicate balance between ourselves and our natural surroundings. Born July 28, 1961, in Little Rock, Arkansas. SPOT considers Little Rock, Palo Alto, California, and Evergreen, Colorado, to be his hometowns. Married to the former Gail Marie Vozzella. They have two children. He enjoys mountaineering, rock climbing, flying, SCUBA diving, skiing, travel, woodworking, and nature photography. A commercial, multi-engine, seaplane and instrument-rated pilot, Dr. Parazynski has logged over 2500 flight hours in a variety of aircraft. As a mountaineer, he has scaled major mountains in the Alaska Range, the Cascades, the Rockies and the Andes. His summits include Cerro Aconcagua (at 22,841 feet above sea level, the tallest mountain in the world outside of Asia) and 53 of Colorado’s peaks over 14,000 feet in altitude. In May of 2008, as a result of a serious back injury, he was forced to turn back at 24,500 feet on a summit bid on Mount Everest. Finally, on May 19, 2009 he summited Mount Everest and shared his adventure using his SPOT unit and SPOTadventures.com. Scott Attended junior high school in Dakar, Senegal, and Beirut, Lebanon. Attended high school at the Tehran American School, Iran, and the American Community School, Athens, Greece, graduating in 1979. He received a bachelor of science degree in biology from Stanford University in 1983, continuing on to graduate with honors from Stanford Medical School in 1989. He served his medical internship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital of Harvard Medical School (1990). He had completed 22 months of a residency program in emergency medicine in Denver, Colorado when selected to the Astronaut Corps.
