My Adventure Story
Day 1 - Took the scenic route (at least half of the way to L.A.). Coast was pretty misty but did get a chance to see some of the fantastic coastline and also enjoyed some of the great driving roads. Stopped for lunch at an inn/restaurant - terrible service and the food was pricey.. I'm sure Renee will post that up on Yelp! at some point! ;-)
Got into L.A around 7pm - treated ourselves to the
Hollywood Roosevelt hotel.. really nice hotel... =) Friendly staff - killer pool, although I'm never that great at actually using the pool. Popped out later to check out
'Beso'. Renee read about this restaurant/bar that is owned by Eva Longoria.. I think Renee was hoping she'd get to see some stars.. Crispy ribs were top notch.. so was the Sangria, Perfect Margarita (really strong and tasty) and service.. After seeing all of the young beautiful people at the bar, Renee and I felt distinctly old! ;-)
Day 2 - Headed out to the Getty Center. Never been before - was really impressed. Views spectacular, architecture also amazing - all the priceless art was pretty good too! Had lunch in the restaurant - black bean and chorizo soup & turkey sliders.. They again top notch - the food in L.A has been great so far. Renee convinced herself that she saw one of the founders of Pixar sat at the table opposite.. frankly he just looked like a man with a big moustache but what do I know?!
Got some nice pics of the gardens before heading back to the hotel via Rodeo Drive.... Did lots of looking in the shops but no buying!! Every other car was an Aston Martin, Porsche, Bentley or Ferrari.. Obviously the economy is not hurting the movie producers down in Hollywood.
One more exciting thing.. Came out of the Roosevelt on Friday night and who should walk past us but
Mike Tyson!!!! Thats right... He was looking real smart in a suit - he also seemed to be in a good mood and smiled as he went by!
