This week's adventure was renting a kayak and hitting the Salt River with my girlfriend and another friend. The trip started off at the Saguaro Lake Ranch, just below the dam (www.saguarolakeranch.com). We opted for the two hour float/paddle. Once we were equipped with our Frenzy Kayaks, paddles and personal floation vests, onto the water we went. The first hour of the trip is very scenic. On the southside of the river are cliffs. Occasionally you come across a family fishing. Saguaro Lake Ranch has a permit for this part of the river, therefore it is very peaceful. After the first hour, you start entering the launching point for the Salt River tubers. The solitude ends at this point. After clearing a few rapids and going under the bridge, the paddle ends 15-20 minutes later. The crew is there waiting for you to load up the kayaks and take you back to the ranch.
