My Adventure Story
18Th day of adventure from Bradenton Florida to Fairplay, Colorado. Two families caravanning in their RVs. Lenny, Iris, Corrine, Lauren, Cassy, Jimmy, Laura, Rebbecca, Josh, and myself.
Yesterday afternoon, after the Coors brewery tour, we went to down town Breckenridge, Colorado. We all did a little tourist shopping and then ate in the "Eric" restaurant. The food and service were just OK; I wouldn't go there a second time.
This morning, June 22ND, 2009 I got up and walked the dogs at 5 AM. It was really cold and I had to dress warm for it. I didn't realize until 7 AM just how cold it really was. My car was covered in ice. I wrote on it and took a photo. This is a record for me, I've never been this cold in June.
We headed out early to Fairplay, Co. for horseback riding at American Safari Ranch. We rode for a couple of hours with Kevin as the trail boss, guide. during the ride through some Aspen trees Cassy lost her camera.
When we returned Lenny and the group took the jeep up the mountain and Cassy found her camera.
By this time is well past noon and time for lunch. We headed over to the town of Como and ate. The food and atmospher was super. After a fine lunch we headed back to Fairplay. We went through the western museum called "South Park City", the original name of Fairplay. If you are near this town you must do yourself the favor of touring this museum. It was excellent, it was full of relics from that time period when the pioneers were digging for gold. Think of the Smithsonian with western items then think of Mystic Connecticut with western life. I think it was the best I've seen.
After "South Park City" it was getting late and we headed back to Breckenridge. We took a very different and scenic route along a dirt and rocky road. We went up the mountains to the top and over Boreas Pass. We saw many prairie dogs and a female mouse. We stopped and played in the snow at the top.
The road was dirt and rocks and a little rough. We returned to our RV camp for time to walk the dogs and then relax. We had a big day and we need to rest up for tomorrow's adventure.
