My Adventure Story

I set out at 8:30 am, a little late when in the Monsoon season, for the Weatherford trail. This trail follows an old forest service road through the Kachina Peaks Wilderness Area- no mechanised vehicles here. The trail starts at Schultz Tank, and leads to the intersection with the Humphreys Trail. An excellent description is to be found on the Forest Service Webpages: http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/coconino/recreation/peaks/weatherford-tr.shtml .
On this cloudless morning, the wildflowers were exceptional following a wet spring season. Lots of deer, squirrells, birds, Jack rabbits, etc. , and incredible vista's to the south and south-east.
Just before Fremont Saddle, the Monsoon broke loose, with thunder, lightning, hail, sleet and heavy, heavy rain, which forced me to retrace quickly. Appart from getting soaked, it was a great hike.
