My Adventure Story
It was a beautiful day. Clear skies and a tail wind. We even got off 10 minutes early. Our plan was to stop in Vernon to fuel up and visit with the guys who restored our plane. We had a beautiful landing in Vernon, approach is right over the lake. The Vernon Flying club was awesome, muffins, coffee, water and a huge discount on fuel. They were all happy to see the Stinson back at their airport. As we were leaving Chuck ?, the fellow who flew the Stinson to Quesnel for us, took off with us in his RV. He flew along with us for a while, (see pics), When it was time for him to turn back he dropped back a bit then blew past us and did a barrel roll right in front of us then pulled up into a steep climb and did a wing over. Sooo cool!!! Thanks Chuck for the show. The flight over the Rockies was amazing. We were at 11,500 most of the way so got some great shots. Landing in Springbank was interesting. We were sure the tower told us to come in on 07. Wrong. They straightened us out and got us in on 16. Lots of activity happening at Springbank all day. We hooked up with friends Frank & Chantelle, and waited for the Hoe-down to begin. Good food, good music, lots of cool airplanes to look at. All this lead up to a mini airshow. There were a couple of acrobatic bi-planes performing then we waited for the sun to set because they had Ken Fowler and his Rocket waiting to do a pyrotechnic airshow. The Rocket is a home build kit plane, and is it ever fast. The pyro was awesome. Difficult to keep this brief, hope you all have time to read it. So Saturday is a relax day in Calgary then Sunday morning it is off to Brandon. Check out this link at youtube to watch the pyro show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2HT0LbPKiIo C-FBPX signing off.
