After several rainy days the weather cleared a little and at times it was sunny.  A Sunday drive along the .  Mitkof Highway was  a welcome change from either staying inside or getting wet outside.  Petersburg is on an island.  Mitkof Highway starts in town , follows alongside the Wrangell Narrows for about 14 miles then turns easterly across the island over to the island's South East side.  The Highway ends at mile 33.  Only 25 miles are paved.
