Well, too bad most of the ride was at night.....
Tucson to Ft Worth - 1,000 miles in 17 hours = another IBA Saddle Sore 1000. I presume your 999 miles was direct route. Need to add in the 'detour' back to Ft Stockton and then back up to Pecos. Got receipts at both places to make the V count. GPS showed 1, 045 in Dallas. Got a Sherriff there to Witness that run.
It only got down to 25 degrees in some of the more rural parts of the ride. You know it is pretty nipply out when you cheer that it gets 'UP to FREEZING'........ It was 32 or below for 70% of the ride once the sun went down.
Thank goodness for the miracle of electric reisistance and human physiology - and multiple layers..... Not too bad actually. But I sure did need those stops every 3 hours to warm the extremities back up.....
