My Adventure Story

An adventure flying our plane to Alaska.
We left Falcon Field in Mesa 6/5. Great weather, but hot. Time to get to cooler Alaska to see family and friends. Will spend the summer fishing and flying.
About 4 hours to Reno International where we overnited at Atlantis Resort. Very nice hotel. Parked plane at Jet West. Free shuttle and friendly personnell. Bought fuel and flew to Ellensburg Bower Field where we stopped for bad weather in Stampede pass. Nice town. Took a good walk and waited for weather to improve which it did inabout two hours. Flew through the pass with some rain but good visibility.
Made a stop in Paine Field
Next morning off to AK. We flew 5 hours up the Inside Passage with incredible scenery. Saw several cruise ships on their way to AK.
Good weather, but headwinds which slowed our progress. Only other plane was a Beech 18. They beat us into Ketchikan.
Stayed overnite at the Narrows Hotel which is very nice and had excellent hosts. The FBO provided a free car which we took on the ferry to Ketchikan and did some touring of the town. It is Irenes home town, so enjoyed seeing old sites, schools, Ward lake etc.
Last leg into Anchorage, where we landed at Anchorage International around 3pm 6/8. The scenery along the SE Alaska coast is incomparable.
We do this trip twice a year but it is always different and beautiful. No place like the Greatland!!
