My Adventure Story

I meet up with a group of people from the Expedition Portal Forum and we traveled the BarneyRileyTrail and looped back through the Leviathen Mine. The trail was moderate to easy I pulled a trailer through it and one did most of it in 2wd. The spring to early summer is a great time to visit this area the flowers were in bloom the valleys looked alive with color. On a cautionary note you can still find snow and lots of water on the trail this time of year. The temperatures can dip down near freezing at night. We camped along the East Fork of the Carson River. There are 2 places the trail can take you the upstream point had a nice camping area in the trees and the down stream point seemed to be the most popular with the stone hot tub. The trail used to cross the river but is now not legal not to mention very high and fast this time of year. It didn’t seem to be reasonable to me to wade across waste deep very cold water to sit in the hot tub to only have to re-cross in the cold water. The trip was great fun with some challenging off-road.
