My Adventure Story
I followed Mr Hyker's description of a basecamp and day hike of the Canyon Rim Trail in the Roaring Plains area of the Monogahela National Forest. This unofficial, unmaintained, unmarked trail leads around the rim of a canyon. At times you are nearly 3000' above the valley floors below you. Bushwacking through rhododendron thickets, navigating talos slopes, chest-high grasses in bogs, alpine meadows, and more. A truly epic hike.
