My Adventure Story
Tricia and I took one week to travel the Dempster Highway to Inuvik. After traveling the 700+ km of this dirt track highway past the Arctic Circle to Inuvik we headed back down the highway to Dawson City. After Camping a night we headed to Chicken Alaska, where the roads had been washed out. We sat and waited for a pilot car to navigate us through some very interested and dangerous roads. Sitting watching animals and prospectors discovering their new land after the washout of so much rain.
We carried on to Fairbanks Alaska and stayed for a few days to clean up and dry out. After a very enjoyable stay at a hotel resort we headed back to Whitehorse through Beaver Creek. I must say I was very proud of my Saskatchewan truck and how it handled the really bad roads.
The trip was 2221 miles or 3574 km's, this equates to about 60 hours of legal driving time. Maybe I completed some parts quicker. This part of the world is truely a drivers adventure play ground and a hiker/hunters dream land.
To say we have been to North Pole, Alaska is a great claim to fame, until we explain it is the City North Pole and not the actual North Pole.
I hope I can figure out how to attach pictures to this blog post.
