My Adventure Story

The valley above Helen Lake boasts some of the most unusual colors I've seen in the Rockies.  Dolomite Pass (which appears as more of a valley) is a thousand shades of green, red and grey swirled together.  Worth the couple hour hike on its own.  The main course though was Cirque Peak a steepish plod through scree of various sizes.  Amazing vista with interesting contrast between the black and white ice world of the Wapta Icefields, the lush green of Bow Valley, and the barren grey limestone ramparts of Dolomite Peak.  Dolomite Peak is a castellated monster that looks as though it should be more at home in New Mexico.  Altogether an interesting mix of terrain to be seen from Cirque Peak. Oodles of marmots were pretty amusing on the return trip.
