Painted Rock Conservation Area Hike

Today’s hike takes us to Painted Rock Conservation Area. We’ve had too much rain over the last several days. Southeast Missouri is experiencing floods at this time. Needless to say, I was itching to get out and make some trails out in Missouri outdoors.
I headed out from 1 of the 3 parking areas at Painted Rock CA and began my trek going on a gentle downhill slope. I came to a creek and follow it downwards as I made my way to the Osage River.
During my hike, I came across some pretty flowers, a turtle, a small snake, which I believe is a Blue Racer Hatchling. The greatest reward was finding 2 mushrooms. As I began my trek back to the vehicle, I scrambled up a bluff area to get to higher ground and began turning eastward to get back to the vehicle.
The weather was wonderful today and I enjoyed this hike very much. I may do this one again in the near future.
