My Adventure Story

3 day backpack, approximately 30 miles (but who really knows...), trails and off trail.... lots of vertical gains and losses.  On day three alone, the elevation gain (excluding backtracking) was over 3,200 and the loss was over 5,000 feet!  Oy!

Pic locations are estimates... so is the track/trail.

The route: 4-mile trail to Glacier Point (over 3,200 foot gain in elevation), down Panorama to Illiouette Creek trail (right name? ...camped there night #1) (hike down about 1,200 loss elev.) then, in the morning... back up to Glacier Point (1,200 gain), then back down yet again (1,200 loss)... to the rest of Panorama, then hanging a right onto some trail I still don't know the name of, headed toward Mono-Meadows (camping there) (maybe 1,000 gain), then on day 3, headed off trail thanks to flooding where we were supposed to cross, led to a great adventure, climbing steep terrain, heading to Mt. Starr King (20 feet higher than Half Dome, at 9092 ft, thank you... for a total that morning of about 3,000 gain), and then back to trail (with knee pounding 2,000 foot loss) headed to (again not sure of name) Panorama down to Nevada Falls, then to the Mist trail (from Panorama trail-marker- another 3,000 vertical loss down), finally ending day 3 on the horse trail back to backpackers camp at North Pines for night 3.
