My Adventure Story
We got a better nites sleep than expected last nite, considering we had a room right above the pokies and there was a 'murder' of freaking old crows with no home to go to, shrieking and swearing along with pinging the bloody machines....we could hear every word and pull of the lever!!!
On the road before 8 today and spent about 9 hours bounding and bouncing our way thru central Qld....felt like we were bloody kangas,,,,,man the roads are shite here!
Had to cut our speed down to 104ish as the fuel was just disappearing if we got to 110!!! Getting around 7.5km/L now as opposed to 6ish at 110!!!
We gotta bit o wind resistance with the addition of the roof basket and I guess all up we weigh a good bit over 2 tonne.
Road kill to feed all of Bangladesh for a week along the road today; it appears that the 140T roadtrains who go thru the nite are plowing into groups of kangas, maybe AA or perhaps kindergarten meetings they have on the roads and yehaa...fecking bits of kanga go everywhere!!! Always seem to find death in groups! Several porked grunters too, coulda been nice eating fresh? Loads of feather dusters on legs too, both breathing and steaming.
Not too much to see again, went from lightly wooded grazing land to heavily grassed grazing land, back again, then lightly scrubbed for a change, then back again! Around here we are well into hay and beef country, bugger all above 2'6" bar power poles. Oh, I got RBT'd entering Barcaldine this arvo; thats 'roadside breath tested', pleasant but well armed chap. Not to be messed with?
So, big day at Qantas museum for us tomorrow, I am going the full monty but Joolz,as usual, will be a bit more conservative....you see, she does not really share my aviation enthusiasm, so while I do a 747 inside and out + wingwalk she will come back home here and do some domestics( I hope), after we both do the museum tour. The stockmans hall of fame is across the road and we will either fit that in the arvo(I think I will be at Qantas all day) or first thing saturday before we head north.
North, yep, thats a story for tomorrow, and I hope to get some fone pix to put in too!!!
