My Adventure Story
Don and I had an excellent ride last weekend. We mixed it up with dirt and pavement.I Didn't want to do the normal route to Mexican Hat (Flag and Tuba City), so we cut up through Second Mesa and Pinion on the Navajo Nation and came out at Black Mesa, where they mine coal for the generating station near Lake Powell. The next day we crossed Lake Powell on the ferry at Hall's Crossing/Bullfrog and headed to Boulder,Ut. via the Burr Trail, for lunch. After lunch we did Hell's Backbone. It felt good to get up in the pines and 30 degrees cooler temps. Spent the night in Escalante Ut. Our third day was spent riding through two of the most picturesque parks; Bryce and Grand Canyons. On the last day, we headed out early(4:30) to beat the heat in the valley, only to sit at a dead stop for almost an hour for construction on Hwy. 89. Still got home at 10:30.1200 miles. Great ride. Thanks Don.
