My Adventure Story
Over the Christmas break, we decided it was time to play in the grass.Off to Columbia (O22) to play on their grass runway. With headwinds and the San Joaquin fogged in we started out going to Hollister for Fuel and Lunch. 2 + hours later we were on the ground.After lunch we headed for Columbia. It took over an hour to get there, so we did one landing and take off on the grass and headed for Calaveras (KCPU) where we had a car and a hotel room.Thursday morning we flew back over to Columbia and Scott got video of the Champ landing on the grass. We then flew back to Calaveras for fuel and headed back home. Had good tailwinds on the way to KSMX and got home in 2 hours flat, but with the main runway closed (30/12) the winds gusting 19 with a 90 degree crosswind on runway 2 were too much for the Champ, so we went to Oceano (L52) for lunch and fuel. The winds calmed down around 3 pm and we landed at KSMX after a really great 2 days of flying.
