On the 28th of April we will be heading out of Brisbane in my 2011 Land Rover Defender 90 and Noel in his 130 Land Rover Defender dual cab.My passenger will be Andy, who has not been any further West than Millmeran.
The first day should take us somewhere around Morven in central Queensland. From there it will be onto Longreach to have a look at the Stockmens Hall of Fame. We spent 2 nights at Longreach, before heading to Winton where we spent a night. From here it was onto Boulia via Middleton, at Boulia we asked the police if the Plenty Highway was open and they adviced that it had opened on the weekend, we drove out to within about a kilometre from the NT. border and camped the night, the flies were bad.
We entered the N.T. the next morning and onto Gemtrees caravan park for 2 nights and a morning fossicking for Garnets we got some good cutters.Next stop was Alice Springs I made it with only a couple of litres of fuel left. Sayed at the Big4 Caravan park for 2 nights. Andy and myself spent a few days in the West McDonnell Rangers and Kings creek station, before going to Ayres rock and waiting for Noel to come back from Brisbane.
Then it was time to head West on the Great Central Rd to Wiluna and the start of the Canning Stock Route (CSR).
Day 1 on the CSR. we went to Windich Springs and camped this is between well 4A & 4B. Nice spot to camp for a couple of days if you have time.
Day2 we done 124km's lots of corrugations we camped on a claypan North of well 9, some interesting landscape today.
Day3 we traveled 171km's to well 16 we skirted around Lake Aerodome a big dry salt lake.Well 15 had very good drinking water.
