Out West - Day 18

Today was sunny, blustery and cold. When we headed out for the North Rim of the Grand Canyon it was 41 degrees and windy. Wind gusts had John fighting to keep the bike in our lane of the road. It was cold enough that Lydia did not take any pictures even though we saw some beautiful scenery.
We reached the Grand Canyon National Park North Rim and went inside the lodge to warm up. Well…..the coffee was warm not hot and you could hear the wind screech around the building so the restaurant was not very warm either. It was windy enough that we did not go outside and walk around the rim. Also at 8800 feet Lydia was having trouble breathing. We did not get any pictures of the Grand Canyon from the North Rim but will remember its beauty for a long time. We like it better than the South Rim.
We found the passport stamp at the Visitor Center, got it in our book and headed back to the motel. It got as warm as 65 degrees by the time we got back to our room. It still took Lydia hours to thaw out.
Tomorrow we will go to Bryce Canyon. There is a chance of snow in the upper elevations there.
