Your privacy is important to us – by us we mean Globalstar, Inc. (“Globalstar”, “we”, “us”, and “our”). We developed this Cookie Notice so you can understand how we and our partners use cookies and other similar technologies, and what information are collected using cookies. We’ll go into more detail below, but here’s the bottom line: by choosing to access our site, you consent to our use of cookies, even when they aren’t needed to provide services to you (more on that later). However, you can choose to disable non-essential cookies using our cookie preference tool, OneTrust. Read on for all the details.

1. What is a cookie? Cookies are small text files that online services put on your device to recognise you next time you visit, gather information about how you use the site and give you a better browsing experience. Cookies enable web browsers like Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox to remember which pages you visit and allow you to set preferences on some sites. Every time you visit the site, your web browser sends these cookies back so the site can recognize you and remember details specific to you and your user preferences. Cookies might recognize when you visit pages on our site or others’ sites, use apps, when you open emails we send you, or click links.

We and our partners also use other technologies that work in a similar way to cookies. To keep things simple in this document, we’ll refer to all of these as cookies except where we specifically identify other technologies.

Cookies can be limited to a single session, or they can be “persistent”. A persistent cookie stays in your browser even after you close it so that we and our partners can read the cookie when you return. Persistent cookies help us and our partners recognize you as an existing user. For instance, that makes it easier for you to use our online services without having to sign into your account each time you visit. Session cookies last only as long as your browser session (usually the current visit to a web site or for as long as a browser is open).

In addition to cookies, we and our partners also use other technologies, including data stored on your web browser or device, identifiers associated with your device and other software that has similar purposes to cookies. These technologies include:

(a) Pixel Tags

Pixel tags (also called beacons or pixels) are small blocks of code installed on or called up by a web page, email or ads. Pixel tags can retrieve information about your device and browser and how you interact with it. This includes, for example, information about your device type, operating system, browser type and version, website visited, time of visit, referring website, IP address, whether you’ve opened an email or clicked on an ad, and other similar info, including the cookie that uniquely identifies the device. Pixels allow third parties to set and read browser cookies from a domain that they don’t operate and collect information about visitors to that domain, typically with the permission of the domain owner. Pixel tags might also be used to test different experiences and content on websites.

(b) Local and session storage

Local and session storage refers generally to other places on a browser or device where information can be stored by websites, ads, or third parties (such as HTML5 local storage and browser cache).

(c) IP Addresses

IP addresses (IP is short for “internet protocol”) are assigned by internet service providers to every device connected to the internet. Website owners, including Globalstar and the third-party analytics and ad-serving services we use, have access to their users’ IP addresses and the general location of those IP addresses. Using IP addresses, we and our partners can identify the country, region, and sometimes city where users are connecting to the internet as well as the internet service provider they use. IP addresses can be used for geolocation, such as by services like Google Analytics.

(d) Software development kits

Software development kits (also called SDKs) function like pixels and cookies, but operate in the mobile app context where pixels and cookies cannot always function. Pieces of code (the SDK) are installed in the app that allow us and our partners to collect certain info about your interaction with the app and information about your device and network.

(e) Device identifiers

Your unique device identifier is a combination of information that is unique to your device. We might collect this information or create a unique device fingerprint so we can identify your device. We use these in a similar way to cookies.

These above technologies help our online services work better, and they help us create services and advertising. The technologies might be delivered to your device by us or by a third party. These third parties are our carefully selected web analytics or advertising partners. We’ll talk more about first-party and third-party cookies further down in this document.

2. Why do we use cookies?

While the cookies used on our sites change from time to time as we improve and update our services, the cookies we and our partners use generally fall into the following three categories:

• Required cookies: These are cookies that are necessary to enable the basic features of our site or app to function, such as providing secure log-in or remembering how far you are through an order. For example, they help us to authenticate your use, prevent fraudulent use of access credentials, maintain the confidentiality of your data and detect malicious activity.
• Functional cookies: These cookies allow us and our partners to analyze your use of the site to evaluate it and improve our performance. Cookies collect information about the number of visitors to the site, who has referred visitors to our site and the pages visited on our site. They help us understand and analyse which pages are the most frequently visited and where users encounter difficulties so we can make impactful changes to our user experience. We may also ask outside partners to help us better understand and analyse how you interact with our online services, including by placing analytics and research cookies on our behalf. For example, we use third-party analytics providers like Google Analytics to evaluate and report back on how our online services are functioning. These companies may set and read their own cookies to gather information about your online activities across websites and services and such information can cause different users to have different experiences on our sites, among other things. Cookies are also used to provide a better customer experience on this site. For example, remembering your log-in details, saving what is in your shopping cart, or providing us information about how our site is used. These cookies help us remember things like your selected region, language, setting preferences, reference websites and what you’ve seen or done on our online services. We hope that by doing this, we can provide a more personalized and convenient experience that will make you want to come back and visit again. Many of our site features should still work without functional cookies, but your experience might not be quite as functional and you’ll need to re-enter your preferences each time you visit.
• Advertising Cookies: These cookies are used to show you ads on our site or others’ sites that are more relevant to you. We share this information with advertisers or use it to better understand your interests. For example, advertising cookies are used to share data with advertisers so that the ads you see are more relevant to you, allow you to share certain pages with social networks or allow you to post comments on our site. Your behaviour on our sites may result in Globalstar ads showing up on other third-party sites you visit and our advertising partners may use cookies to help serve you Globalstar ads better tailored to the interests you’ve shown by browsing our sites. We and our partners also sometimes use cookies to count the number of times an ad is shown and to measure how often people do things like click on or view marketing communications or ads we’ve sent them, both on and off our sites.

We and our partners may link any of the information we collect through cookies and other technologies with information you provide us, with information we obtain from other sources, including online and offline data providers (such as demographic data and interest-based data) and, where you agree to this through your privacy settings on those social media sites, with information obtained from social media. This information is gathered by how you use social media, such as what you post about, message about, or comment on.

3. What information is collected? We and our partners use cookies to collect information about how you interact with and navigate our sites, as well as information about the device and software you use to do so. This “usage information” can include data on the following:

• Site and app interactions, including language preferences, timestamps, clicks, scrolling, browsing times, searches, referrals, and exit pages;
• Information about your device such as IP addresses, unique device IDs, user IDs, processing capabilities, manufacturer and model, language and other regional settings, geographic location, and screen resolution and similar settings;
• Your connection to online services, including details about the network and software you’re using such as browser type and version, operating system name and version, ISP, and your preference settings; and
• How sites and apps perform for you, including problems you encounter such as loading errors and response times.

This information may be combined with other information we or our partners hold about you, for instance, to support our marketing efforts by serving you Globalstar ads or marketing messages based on how you’ve browsed with us or bought from us before.

4. Who places cookies on my device?

Cookies placed on your device by us while you’re on our site are called “first-party cookies.” If our partners place cookies on your device while you’re on our site, these are called “third-party cookies.” Such cookies are controlled by third parties and not by us. For example, when you visit a Globalstar site, Google Analytics sets its own cookies on your web browser. These record your visit to our online services and this information is shared with other organizations.

5. What cookies are used on Globalstar sites?

The cookies and other technologies we use on our sites change from time to time as we improve and update our services. You can see a current list of the cookies on our site and apps, and partners who set them, using our cookie preferences tool OneTrust.

6. Cookies we don't control

We don’t control third-party cookies and cannot remove them. Only the third party can set their third-party cookies, but you can take control of removing cookies yourself using browser settings or our cookie preference tool. You can also read our partners’ privacy policies to ensure you’re comfortable with how they use cookies. 7. How can I manage cookies?

(a) Cookie preference tool

You can use our cookie preference tool OneTrust to manage and disable cookies. If you do choose to disable cookies, please be aware that our site features may not all operate as intended.

(b) Browser settings

(d) Do Not Track Features At this point, there isn’t a common understanding of how to interpret the Do Not Track (“DNT”) signal, so Globalstar does not currently respond to browser DNT signals. You may instead be able to use your browser settings to reject, manage, and delete cookies and similarly manage other technologies, like HTML5.

(e) Opt-outs

Globalstar may use cookie-like technologies such as web beacons, pixel or gif tags, and action tags to confirm that our email messages have been delivered and opened. You may opt out of receiving our emails in accordance with our Privacy Notice.

Please note that opting out of interest-based advertising won’t necessarily entirely prevent information from being collected automatically on our online services, and it doesn’t mean you’ll receive fewer ads or stop ads from being displayed. Instead, the ads you see will no longer be interest-based and might therefore be less relevant to your interests.

8. SDKs

When you install our apps, SDKs are installed. You cannot deactivate an SDK. Consequently, do not install our apps if you are not happy with the use of SDKs.

9. Will this Cookie Notice, or information in the Cookie Preference Tool, ever change?

We’re constantly working to develop new and improved services that will help us create ever better experiences for you. We may also change our practices over time as our business and technology evolves. Occasionally, this means that we’ll need to provide you with new or additional information about the ways we collect and use your personal data. As a result, we may amend this Cookie Notice and the information in our cookie preference tool from time to time.

If we materially change our Cookie Notice, we’ll take steps to inform you of the change in advance. We may do this through email, notices on our site, or through other appropriate means.

If you’re unhappy with the changes we propose, you’re free to stop using our services or to manage cookies and similar technologies in the way we’ve outlined in this Cookie Notice.
